Pear

Pear is a fruit stain, so treat it quickly with cool water before it dries.

  1. Try this first

Cool water, then an oxygen bleach soak

Rinse the fresh stain promptly with cool water. Soak in warm water with an oxygen bleach (follow the label) for 15 to 30 minutes, then launder with heavy-duty detergent.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.

  2. Then try

    Vinegar soak, then rubbing alcohol

Soak for 15 minutes in 1 quart warm water with 1/2 teaspoon liquid dish detergent and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Rinse, sponge with rubbing alcohol and wash. If a stain is left, soak 30 minutes in warm water with an oxygen bleach and wash again.

Rubbing alcohol can take dye out of fabric. Test a hidden spot first.

  3. Then try

    An enzyme soak

Pretreat or soak with an enzyme product: 30 minutes, or several hours for an older stain. Launder, and if the stain remains, use a bleach that is safe for the fabric.

Check the care label and test a hidden spot first. Do not put the item in the dryer until the stain is gone.
