Paint

Paint is a paint stain, so act before it dries.

  1. Try this first

    Water-based paint (still wet)

Rinse the garment in warm water while the paint is wet. Pretreat with a prewash stain remover, bar soap or laundry detergent, rinse and wash.

Test any stain remover on a hidden seam or hem first, and check the care label.

  2. Then try

    Oil-based paint

Apply the solvent recommended on the paint can, or turpentine. Rinse. Pretreat with a prewash stain remover, bar soap or laundry detergent, then rinse and wash.

Paint solvents and turpentine are flammable. Use them in a well-ventilated room and keep them away from flames.

Still there? Try the all-purpose ways or pick another stain.
